SCHEME TRACING
JIPT has published Scheme Tracing book with more than 100 schemes.
Scheme Tracing is a self-taught and process of tracing of piping connections, pumps, Meters, Motors, valves, actuators, steam path, water circuit, gas path, lubrication circuits, controllers, Raw Coal flow and Ash Disposal path etc.
This is unique to JIPT as the Institute is located inside premises of 4x 250MW and 4x 600MW, O.P. Jindal Super Thermal Power Plant and students can visit the plant anytime they desire with necessary precaution and permission. This gives the student added advantage compared to follow peers of other Thermal Power Training Institutes in India which do not have their own power plant or institute are located outside the power station.
Once Scheme Tracing is completed diligently, students are totally aware of locations and working of all equipment and numerous auxiliaries of the Thermal Power Plant of Jindal Power Limited. Other power stations of various capacities are no different from Jindal Power Limited.
ROTATION ON JOB OPERATION
To get the real-life feeling of Power Plant Operation, students are placed to undergo four weeks in-plant training in shifts synchronizing with the shift timing working of Jindal Power Limited. Students are to observe various parameters of different equipment/ auxiliaries under operation and record them in the printed data book (250 & 600MW) which will be provided to the trainees/students free of cost. This is unique for JIPT. Trainees are made to understand the technicalities by working in shifts. Students will be allowed to visit Central Control Room (CCR), highly restricted area, in small batches with a guide to get the real-life feeling of Power Plant Central Control Room.
ROTATION ON JOB MAINTENANCE
To get the real-life feeling of Power Plant Maintenance, students of JIPT are to undergo four weeks Power Plant Maintenance training in general shift for understanding / observing the complexities of tools and tackles, special tools and their use and the methodology of equipment maintenance. Students are allowed to interact with the technical personal engaged for maintenance of equipment without hampering work. Students are to utilize the opportunities when maintenance of particular equipment is undertaken which may not be in G-shits. As the Institute is inside the Power Plant, students of JIPT have the opportunity. which is not possible in any other Power Training Institute.
Training Programmes for Power Personnel
Institute offers training programmes on various areas of Power Plant Operation and Maintenance, which are flexible and can be modified as per actual requirement of Power Plant Personnel.

JIPT has very good facility for classroom training of different categories of Apprenticeship starting from workmen category to skilled workmen and engineers experienced or fresher. JIPT has conducted both classroom training and in plants training for the land sellers, who are under qualified and were unable to receive lecture in technical language. We have designed the training Programme in vernacular language and the same was delivered by our faculty members and it was a grand success. The training programme was called UTTHAN and it has bagged National and International Awards and it has been acclaimed by Govt. of India and International bodies for such Programme being introduced and successfully conducted by JPL/JIPT. JIPT provides basic training in vernacular language to under qualified local persons who can easily grasp the intricacies of power plant equipment and their operational needs and maintenance aspects very easily.
Apart from classroom training, candidates under apprentice are taken around the power station to make them acquaint with various equipment and their operational needs. Thus they get exposed to the operating plants and can understand, identify equipment easily.
JIPT can design need based training programme for the various categories of persons from grass root level to skilled technicians and deliver them successfully.
